JAMMU, Aug 29: GGM Science College commemorated National Sports Day on August 29, 2023, with an exhilarating Tug of War (Men) competition. The event was organized to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle. The occasion was graced by the presence of esteemed individuals, including Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Physical Director of GGM Science College, Prof. Raj Kumar Gupta, Dr. Veer Singh, and Prof. M.S. Saini.
Before the commencement of the competition, all participants, including players and teaching staff, enthusiastically took the Fit India Pledge. This pledge signifies their commitment to promote and embrace an active and health-conscious lifestyle in their daily routines.
The Tug of War competition featured two teams: Sukhdev and Raj Guru. The players exhibited remarkable strength, determination, and coordination. Ultimately, the Sukhdev team emerged victorious with a score of 3-0, showcasing their exceptional teamwork and grit.
The event continued with a friendly match between the College Professors' Team and the College Students' Team. The Professors' Team showcased their skills and camaraderie, ultimately winning the match with a score of 2-1. The College Professors who participated in the match included Prof. Raj Kumar Gupta, Prof. Sukh Chain, Prof. Sham Singh, Prof. Rahul Kaith, Prof. Shiv Kumar, Prof. Rajiv Kumar, Prof. Pankaj Mansotra, Prof. Arjun Rathore, and Prof. Davinder Singh.
The celebration of National Sports Day at GGM Science College not only paid homage to the iconic Major Dhyan Chand but also emphasized the importance of sports in promoting teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle. The event brought together students and professors in the spirit of friendly competition, fostering a sense of unity and enthusiasm among all participants.
