agencies BARODA, Aug 29: Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager of Northern Railway, conducted a comprehensive performance review meeting with departmental heads of the Northern Railway and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) at the NR headquarters office. The meeting highlighted key focus areas including safety, maintenance of railway assets, staff training, and passenger amenities enhancement. During the meeting, Shobhan Chaudhuri reiterated that safety remains the foremost priority for the Railways. He emphasized that every possible effort should be dedicated to maintaining the tracks, rolling stock, signaling systems, and electric overhead wires in optimal condition. He directed the departments to prioritize regular training and refresher courses for staff, ensuring they stay motivated and well-informed about the system's workings to minimize human errors. Reviewing the progress of enhancing passenger amenities, Doubling & New Line projects, the General Manager urged officials to expedite their work. He particularly stressed the need for comprehensive monitoring of signals, rail fractures, and rail welds to eliminate any potential errors. Expressing concern about the potential threats posed by trees near tracks or OHE wires, Shobhan Chaudhuri instructed the swift acquisition of necessary approvals for tree cutting from the Forest Department. This proactive measure aims to safeguard against potential disruptions. The General Manager also emphasized electrical safety on tracks, as well as in relay and panel rooms, to facilitate error-free train movement. Punctuality and safe freight loading were also addressed as top priorities, with instructions for the department heads and DRMs to maintain these standards.
