Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 29: An emergency meeting of the core committee members of the AllJ&K POJK 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum was convened under the leadership of Adv. Amrik Singh, President, and S. Surjit Singh, Secretary, along with other prominent members. The Forum vehemently denounced the shocking and brutal killing of Executive Engineer S. Gurmeet Singh from Baramulla, Kashmir. Engineer Gurmeet Singh had been missing since the 25th of August, and his tragic demise under mysterious circumstances has deeply disturbed the Forum. The Forum expressed profound sorrow over the tragic killing of S. Gurmeet Singh, a Sikh Gazetted officer, by anti-national militants. They characterized this incident as a direct assault on the minority community in the region. The Forum highlighted that the presence of minorities, including Sikhs, in Kashmir faces opposition from anti-national and communal elements who are working towards the liberation of Kashmir from pro-Indian voices. The Forum criticized the administration of the Union Territory for what they perceive as a failure to take timely and effective measures, allowing the perpetrators to carry out their heinous act. They stressed that had proper precautionary steps been taken, the life of Engineer Gurmeet Singh could have been saved. In strong terms, the Forum urged the Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha, to initiate an investigation through agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to swiftly apprehend the culprits behind this horrific incident. They warned that failing to bring the killers to justice could lead to a mass exodus of minority employees from the valley. The Forum also demanded adequate compensation for the grieving family members of Engineer Gurmeet Singh. The meeting saw the participation of various dignitaries, including S. The Forum's collective voice calls for justice, accountability, and security for all citizens, and its members demand that the authorities take swift and effective action to bring an end to such heinous acts that threaten communal harmony and peace in the region. |
