Shiv Sena urges 'INDIA' alliance to address Jammu-Kashmir's challenges | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 30: The Shiv Sena (UBT) unit in Jammu and Kashmir has called upon the 'INDIA' alliance to raise its voice and take action concerning the current situation in the region. In a press conference held at the party's state headquarters in Jammu, Manish Sahni, State President of Shiv Sena J&K, revealed that the party has formally requested the 'INDIA' alliance to include a delegation that will represent and address the ongoing conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. The request is set to be discussed in the forthcoming alliance meeting scheduled for August 31st in Mumbai. Sahni stressed the importance of the 'INDIA' alliance visiting Jammu and Kashmir to assess the local circumstances firsthand. The party's appeal seeks to advocate for several key issues, including the restoration of democratic processes, the reinstatement of statehood, protection of local rights, the safe return of Kashmiri Pandits, and the reservation of seats for displaced individuals in the state assembly. The Shiv Sena leader highlighted the challenges faced by the region, pointing out the hindrances to the implementation of democratic processes due to the current environment. He expressed concern over the delay in fulfilling the promise of reinstating statehood, which was previously assured from the legislative platform. Sahni also drew attention to the erosion of the rights of the local population and the prolonged wait of Kashmiri Pandits for a secure return to their homeland. Sahni further emphasized the unfulfilled promises to displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK). He criticized the governance of the BJP, asserting that it has failed to align with the cultural identity of the region. The presence of terrorism has escalated, causing a sense of insecurity among the people. He mentioned the plight of unemployed youth, who have reportedly turned to substance abuse, contributing to a rise in crime rates and public fear. Sahni underlined that the people of the region are disillusioned by what they perceive as empty promises from the BJP and are now pinning their hopes on the 'INDIA' alliance to address their concerns and bring about positive change. The Shiv Sena press conference was attended by Vice President Sanjeev Kohli and saw the formal submission of the party's request to the central leadership of the 'INDIA' alliance. As the situation unfolds, the eyes of many will be on the forthcoming 'INDIA' alliance meeting to see how the alliance responds to the Shiv Sena's call for action on the challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir. |
