F&ES Deptt marks World First Aid Day with comprehensive training programs

JAMMU, Sept 9: The Fire and Emergency Service Department celebrated "World First Aid Day" with zeal and dedication, organizing extensive training programs in their headquarters at Batmaloo Srinagar and Gandhinagar Jammu. These programs, conducted in collaboration with the Health Department, equipped service personnel with essential first aid skills.
Alok Kumar-IPS, (ADGP) Director of Fire & Emergency Services, J&K, graced the main First Aid training program held at the Fire & Emergency Services headquarters in Batmaloo Srinagar as the chief guest.
The event commenced with the rendition of the National Anthem and a warm welcome address by Dr. Abrar, Medical Officer of the Fire & Emergency Services Medical Unit in Batmaloo Srinagar.
Medical teams from the Health Department, stationed in Srinagar, and Jammu, trained approximately 700 jawans and officers from all Fire & Emergency Stations in the Union Territory.
The training focused on precautions and necessary steps to be taken while providing first aid, including specialized medical treatment, handling burn injuries, wounds, fractures, unconsciousness, and electric shock incidents at the scene of a fire.
Alok Kumar-IPS, ADGP, Director of Fire & Emergency Services, J&K, commended the crucial role played by doctors in providing First Aid training to service personnel on the occasion of "World First Aid Day" celebrated on September 9, 2023. He urged the trainees to pass on this invaluable knowledge to their colleagues, emphasizing the potential to save precious lives during fire-fighting and rescue operations.
A parallel event took place at Fire & Emergency Services headquarters in Gandhinagar, Jammu, presided over by Sh. R.K. Raina, Deputy Director of Fire & Emergency Services, Command Jammu, with the support of Dr. Manju, Medical Officer of Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu.
The training programs were attended by various departmental officers, including Administrative Officers, Accounts Officers, and all Command Officers of J&K.
These comprehensive training programs on "World First Aid Day" underscored the Fire and Emergency Service Department's commitment to enhancing emergency response capabilities, ultimately contributing to the safety and well-being of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
