Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 19: In a heartfelt tribute to the enduring principles of peace, truth, and non-violence championed by Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS unit (IMDAD) of Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal organized a thought-provoking Essay Writing Competition. This competition revolved around the theme of "Gandhian Philosophy of Truth and Non-violence" in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the great Mahatma Gandhi.
A multitude of enthusiastic students from GDC Darhal participated in this competition, wherein they delved into various facets of Gandhi ji's life and teachings. The competition aimed to provide a platform for students to express their thoughts, ideas, and views on this profound theme, fostering a deeper understanding and internalization of the values propagated by Gandhi ji.
The results of the Essay Writing Competition were as follows:
First Prize: Shariq Ali Bin Ghulam (Semester 5th)
Second Prize: Faraz Ahmed Malik (Semester 5th)
Third Prize: Imraz Ahmed (Semester 5th)
Consolation Prize: Mahboob Sadeeq (Semester 5th)
The event bore testimony to the meticulous organization under the able guidance of Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah, the College's Principal. During his address at the event, he emphasized that the life and teachings of the Father of the Nation continue to illuminate the path for all of us in every facet of our lives. He further stressed that in today's conflict-ridden world, the imperative need of the hour is to embrace and practice the teachings of Gandhi ji to attain enduring peace.
Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, the NSS Program Officer, encouraged students to cherish and follow the philosophy of truth, unity, and harmony as exemplified by Bapu. The event's adjudication was conducted by Dr. Imtiaz H. Shah (HOD Urdu) and Prof. Tahir Mahmood (HOD English). Certificates were awarded to all the winners as a token of appreciation for their thoughtful contributions.
The Essay Writing Competition at GDC Darhal was not merely an academic exercise but a profound journey into the principles that continue to inspire generations and remind us of the transformative power of truth and non-violence.
