BIS conducted training programs of NGOs for sensitizing Gram Panchayat | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 21: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) successfully organized a training program for NGOs to sensitize Gram Panchayat Presidents and Secretaries across the J&K, Ladakh and Punjab (6 Districts). The program was attended by senior members of 5 NGOs. Highlighting the objectives of the program and explaining the BIS activities, Tilak Raj, Director and Head, Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office stated that BIS has taken an initiative to sensitize Gram panchayats for utilizing Indian Standards for Government program and schemes. The Gram Panchayats are already provided with booklet of important and useful Indian Standards relevant to different sectors. These NGOs has been trained to Interact with Presidents and secretaries of Gram Panchayats for explaining the context regarding utilization of Indian Standard in the implementation of various government plans and Schemes as mentioned in detailed letter sent to Panchayats. With this vision, BIS JKBO conducted the training program in which technical Lectures were delivered by Sh. Hitesh Yadav and +Niraj Mishra Scientist-B of BIS-JKBO on Overview of BIS activities, concepts of quality and standardization at national and international level, benefits of implementation of standards.
