Action against illegal mining: 1180 vehicles seized in 2023 so far: SSP Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 22: Ensuring stern action against illegal mining in Jammu district, Jammu police has seized 1180 vehicles in 2023 so far with action is going on to ensure zero tolerance of police against this unlawful act. In an official statement, Jammu police said that out of 1180 vehicles seized in 2023 so far, 625 vehicles have been seized in Jammu rural police zone while 348 in South and 57 in North zone of the district.
SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli said that seizure of such high number of vehicles has been made under zero tolerance policy of police against illegal mining.
Meanwhile, in a quest to stern the menace of illegal mining, a multi-pronged strategy was devised by Jammu Police in which police teams of PS Nagrota, PS Bishnah, PS Miran Sahib, PS Akhnoor, PP Manwal, PP Pallanwala, PP Phallain Mandal, PP Talab Tillo, PP Jourian and BPP Gajansoo acted stringently on the specific inputs and raided at locations in their respective area in last 24 hours and seized 12 vehicles involved in illegal mining. The recoveries were made by SHO PS Nagrota Inspr Vishav Partap Singh, SHO PS Bishnah Inspr. Vikram Sharma, SHO PS Miran Sahib Inspr Bopinder Singh, SHO PS Akhnoor Inspr Zaheer Mushtaq, I/C PP Manwal PSI Sanjeev Sharma, I/C PP Pallanwala ASI Raj Singh, I/C PP Phallain Mandal PSI Ajesh Singh Jamwal, I/C PP Talab Tillo PSI Sonu Choudhary, I/C PP Jourian PSI Karnail Singh and I/C BPP Gajansoo ASI Ravinder Bhushan in their respective jurisdiction.
DMO Jammu was also intimated about the same. The mining was done in violation of order of Hon'ble High Court of J&k. In order to strictly implement the drive against illegal mining and to tighten noose against the violators of the law Jammu Police has initiated strict action.
