HSM launches Hindi Poetry Book 'Bikhra Hoon, Toota Nahin' by promising writer Sofia Jangral

JAMMU, Sept 23: In a delightful literary event organized by the Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu (HSM-J), the Hindi poetry collection titled 'Bikhra Hoon, Toota Nahin,' penned by the young and talented writer Sofia Jangral from Jammu & Kashmir, was unveiled. The event took place at Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu, with Dr. Raj Kumar, a renowned Hindi writer and academician, gracing the occasion as the special guest. Maharaj Krishan Santoshi, a distinguished writer from J&K, presided over the program, while Dr. Chanchal Dogra, President of HSM-J, along with Smt. Amita Mehta and Sofia Jangral, shared the stage. The event witnessed a substantial gathering of intellectuals and writers.
The program commenced with Manto Dutta Sharma formally inviting the distinguished guests to the stage. Dr. Chanchal Dogra, in her welcoming address, provided insights into the activities of HSM-J. During the event, Amita Mehta, a Hindi writer from J&K, presented a paper that critically evaluated the newly released poetry book, 'Bikhra Hoon, Toota Nahin.'
Addressing the gathering, Maharaj Krishan Santoshi commended HSM for promoting the young talent of the region and praised Sofia Jangral for her significant contributions to Hindi literature in the Union Territory of J&K. He emphasized that writing poetry is a journey and lauded the innocence and sincerity with which Sofia's poems explore various themes. He noted that the book's title reflects her positive outlook on life.
Dr. Raj Kumar emphasized the importance of listening to one's inner soul and applauded the young writer for portraying life's various hues in her expressions. Senior writer Dr. Baljit Singh Raina and Sofia Jangral also shared their thoughts during the event.
Sofia Jangral, hailing from Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana (Samba, J&K), holds qualifications in M.A. Sociology, M.Ed, and UGC NET. She has been writing poetry and articles in Hindi and English since 2006 and has seen her work published in numerous local and national newspapers.
She has also received recognition at the national level for her writing. Her published poetry collections in Hindi include 'Baatein Kuchh Dil Ki' (2021), 'Zazbaat Aur Ehsaas Lafzon Mein' (2021), 'Kuchh Roop Zindagi Ke Aise Bhi' (2022), and 'Bikhra Hoon, Toota Nahin' (2023). Her poetry reflects her concerns about womanhood, love, relationships, dreams, faith, life's oddities, and the challenges people face, often emphasizing an optimistic perspective on life situations.
The program's proceedings were efficiently conducted by Uma Sharma, Literary Secretary, and Sanjiv Bhasin, Vice-President of HSM-J, with Dr. Pawan Khajuris, Vice-President of HSM-J, delivering the closing vote of thanks.
