Early Times Report RAMNAGAR, Sept 25: Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar, in collaboration with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee and NSS Unit, conducted an awareness program and pledge ceremony on the theme "Health, Psychological, and Social Effects of Psychoactive Substance Abuse on Society." The event, held under the patronage of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal of the college, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines. The college took a proactive step in educating and sensitizing young minds about the detrimental effects of psychoactive substance use at both individual and societal levels. Dr. Irfan Ahmad Wani, a faculty member in Psychology, delivered an enlightening lecture on the theme. During his address, he shed light on the physical, psychological, and social impacts of psychoactive substance misuse. Dr. Wani emphasized the long-lasting consequences on cognitive functions, emotional well-being, behavior, physical health, relationships, academic performance, and overall life satisfaction and well-being. He urged the audience to identify individuals involved in substance abuse and assist law enforcement agencies in curbing this menace for the betterment of society. As a symbolic commitment to a drug-free India, students and faculty members present on the occasion collectively pledged to refrain from the consumption and abuse of drugs and narcotics. This collective pledge serves as a reminder of their dedication to a healthier and drug-free society.
