Police solves hit and run case; accused arrested | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 25: Police on Monday have solved a hit and run case that claimed four lives by arresting an accused. Four persons were killed when an unknown truck coming from Ujroo hit a Maruti Van at Qazigund near Walnut factory which was going towards Banihal on September 22. The truck driver fled from the spot along with his vehicle with the intention of hiding his identity and his truck. Accordingly, Police registered a case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Qazigund and started an investigation. During the course of investigation, Kulgam police relentlessly made all efforts and collected evidence from CCTV, Toll Plazas, Telecom and other useful applications and services to identify and arrest the driver involved in commission of crime. After strenuous efforts, the police team recovered the vehicle and arrested the accused driver identified as Aarif Ahmad Ellahi a resident of Nowgam Verinag, Anantnag. Further investigation of the case is in progress, police said. |
