UDHAMPUR, Sept 26: Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur, organized a one-day seminar focused on "Road Safety Measures" on September 26, 2023. This educational event was conducted with the active participation of the NSS Unit and the Red Cross Club, under the able guidance of the esteemed Principal, Prof. Hans Raj.
The seminar commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, a symbol of enlightenment, by Principal Prof. Hans Raj, the guest speaker Mr. Ravinder Bhagat, SI (Sub-Inspector) of District Police Udhampur, and other faculty members.
Prof. Hans Raj delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the paramount importance of road safety in contemporary society. He stressed that road safety concerns are a matter of life and death for the common people, highlighting the need for strict adherence to road safety measures and rules by all citizens.
Ravinder Bhagat, the esteemed speaker, began the first session by delving into the theme of road safety. He urged attendees to prioritize safety by using essential measures such as wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, and maintaining appropriate driving speeds. He also underscored the crucial role played by law enforcement agencies in upholding road safety.
In the second session, Bhagat expanded his discussion to address prevalent contemporary issues, including cybercrime and drug addiction, which disproportionately affect the younger generation. His insights provided valuable awareness about these critical issues.
The seminar's organizing committee comprised Prof. Swati Dutt and Dr. Radha Rani, who played instrumental roles in its execution. Additionally, Dr. Kumari Mahima Bhagat, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Muntazir Ahmed Bhat, and Neha Devi were present at the event, contributing to its success.
The event's proceedings were skillfully conducted by Mehbish Akhter and Rabia Shehreen, students of Semesters V and II, respectively. Their efforts ensured that the seminar ran smoothly and effectively, leaving attendees with valuable insights on road safety measures and contemporary challenges.
