Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: In honor of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, the Yuva Tourism Club of Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar, in collaboration with the Department of Punjabi, organized a visit to the serene Tawi Biodiversity Park at Bikram Chowk, Jammu. This outing marked one of several activities planned to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.
One of the prominent features of this event was a Swachhata Abhiyan (cleanliness drive) conducted within the park. The primary goal of the abhiyan was to instill a sense of awareness among the students and inspire them to actively participate in the cleanliness campaign-an essential component of Gandhian philosophy. Mahatma Gandhi placed great emphasis on cleanliness as it played a pivotal role in his vision for a more prosperous and harmonious society.
The students of Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar embraced this initiative with enthusiasm and dedication, contributing their efforts to the cleanliness drive within the park.
Dr. Meeru Abrol, the esteemed principal of the college, expressed her admiration for the students' dedication and the organizing team's hard work. She underscored the undeniable link between cleanliness and good health-a connection widely recognized and respected. During her address, Dr. Abrol emphasized that cleanliness and hygiene are critical factors in ensuring the well-being and health of individuals, echoing Gandhian principles of a healthy and sustainable society.
The event was meticulously organized by Prof. Parwinder Kaur and Dr. Mosmi Raina, with unwavering support and guidance from the college's principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol. Their collective efforts not only celebrated the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi but also instilled in the students the values of cleanliness, hygiene, and community responsibility.
