Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 27: Himalya Sewa Sang, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir AIDS Control Society, organized an impactful awareness camp in the regions of Barjala and Hakkal, Jammu. The event drew a significant turnout, particularly among the youth aged 18 to 35, who actively participated in the camp. The primary focus of the camp was to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote voluntary blood donation, and combat drug addiction. The camp's inauguration was graced by Mr. Shuban Krishan Sharma, a resource person with extensive knowledge in the field. Mr. Sharma emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines set forth by the National AIDS Control Organization and the Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society for the efficient prevention, treatment, and control of HIV/AIDS. He passionately advised the youth to steer clear of drug abuse, especially injected drugs, emphasizing the life-threatening consequences of such habits. Throughout the camp, discussions revolved around identifying high-risk groups within communities and devising strategies to address their unique needs and challenges. The aim was to foster a deeper understanding of the specific vulnerabilities associated with HIV/AIDS and substance abuse. Diverse speakers at the camp underscored the significance of voluntary blood donation, urging young participants to consider this altruistic act as a way to contribute to society's well-being.
