DPAP’s silence says it all
9/28/2023 2:18:39 AM
The Democratic Progressive Azad Party led by former J&K chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad did not observe its first Foundation Day on September 26, 2023. The day should have been a momentous occasion, marked by reflection, celebration, and communication with the public. However, the party's silence on this occasion has raised many questions.
Azad made his presence felt on social media by announcing that his party has completed one year but no big function or a rally was held anywhere in J&K to mark the occasion.
The DPAP had emerged as a promising contender, poised to reshape the political landscape. Led by the experienced Ghulam Nabi Azad, the party was founded with much fanfare, promising a fresh and dynamic alternative to the traditional political forces. However, the DPAP skipping its first foundation day celebrations indicates that the party is facing a difficult situation.
When the DPAP was formed, Azad had promised to promote inclusivity, transparency, and progressive policies.
Azad, a seasoned politician with a wealth of experience, was seen as the embodiment of this vision. However, party's leaders seem to have forgotten the significance of this milestone, failing to provide a coherent message to the public about their achievements, plans, and objectives. This silence raises questions about the party's commitment to its founding principles and its ability to connect with the people.
One of the most glaring omissions in Azad's recent agenda is his conspicuous silence on his role as a member of the panel formed by the Centre to explore the feasibility of "one nation, one election." Azad's silence on the matter is both perplexing and concerning.
The silence surrounding the DPAP's first foundation day is disheartening. Anniversaries provide an opportunity for reflection, evaluation, and reinvigoration of a party's commitment to its ideals. They also offer a chance to rally support, and to chart a course for the future. The absence of any such communication or celebration from the DPAP raises concerns about the party's internal cohesion and its ability to inspire its members and the electorate.
To regain the trust of the people, the DPAP, under Ghulam Nabi Azad's leadership, should break its silence and actively participate in the discussions surrounding various issues. It should also try to reconnect with its base and clearly communicate its vision, goals, and achievements. In doing so, it can reaffirm its commitment to democratic values and transparency, solidifying its position as a credible and influential force in J&K politics.
