| SOTTO holds presentation on organ donation and transplantation in Samba | | |  Early Times Report
Samba, Sept 30: Jammu and Kashmir: J&K State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) organized a presentation on Organ Donation and Transplantation at the Convention Hall in the DC Office Complex in Samba. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Vidhi Bhatyal, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Samba, who felicitated Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director of J&K SOTTO.
The presentation aimed to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation and transplantation. Dr. Sanjeev Puri, in his comprehensive presentation, highlighted the provisions of the THOTA 1994 (Transplantation of Human Organs Act) and the implementation of Organ Donation and Transplantation Act in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that anyone could become an organ donor online by visiting the website linked to Aadhar cards at https://notto.abdm.gov.in/. Dr. Puri encouraged members from various departments, including Health and others, to register as organ donors.
CMO Samba, Dr. Vidhi Bhatyal, stressed the importance of raising general awareness about organ donation and urged the public to actively participate in this noble cause. She commended the efforts of SOTTO in spreading the message of organ donation and led by example by taking the pledge for organ donation herself.
The meeting was attended by several officials, including District Health Officer Dr. Anju Bala, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, and other officers and staff, along with the SOTTO team, including Anshu Sharma, Media Consultant, Irfan Ahmed, Transplant Coordinator, and Nisha Kumari, Programme Assistant.
The Deputy CMO extended a vote of thanks, and many attendees registered online to become organ donors, furthering the cause of organ donation and transplantation awareness in the region. |
