Meri Maati Mera Desh: Kalash Yatras honor national heroes in J&K and Ladakh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” initiative pays tribute to the sacrifices of National Heroes who gave their lives for the motherland. Under the second phase of this event, the Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh are witnessing various activities organized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) J&K and Ladakh, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. These activities include Kalash Yatras, where people contribute soil and rice as souvenirs to be taken to the National Capital at the end of October for the foundation of Amrit Vatika at Kartavyapath. Several programs under the second phase of “Meri Maati Mera Desh” were organized in Jammu Division. In Kathua district, Kalash Yatras were taken out in Kohag by GMS Kohag, Block Mandli, coordinated by NYV Anadika Mahajan. An Amrit Kalash Yatra was held in the jurisdiction of E&Y Coy and nearby villages, with the participation of A K Rai, Deputy Commandant BSF, 60 BSF Personnel, and over 500 local people. Ex-principals, teachers, PRI members, and more also took part in the event. A similar event was held in Jammu by BSF in collaboration with NYK Jammu. A Kalash Yatra was conducted in Nandpur market area in front of the statue of Late Ratan Chand by A Coy, with the presence of Sh. N K Gupta, Asst Commandant BSF, along with other personnel, PRI members, and hundreds of local people. Various events were marked in Poonch district as well, with Kalash Yatras taking place in blocks Loran, Buffliaz, and Surankote, where people actively contributed soil and rice. In Udhampur district, door-to-door soil collection drives were held in blocks Parlidhar and Chanuntha, with local people actively contributing soil and rice in the national endeavor. Kalash Yatras were also conducted in the Kashmir Division under the second phase of “Meri Maati Mera Desh.” In Pulwama, youth volunteers along with CRPF personnel conducted a Kalash Yatra, where people contributed rice and soil. Similar events took place across Srinagar and Baramulla districts, with people contributing rice and soil from their households. In the Leh and Kargil districts of UT of Ladakh, Kalash Yatras were held in different blocks, where people actively participated and contributed rice and soil in memory of the National Heroes. A soil collection drive was conducted at block Turtuk with the involvement of youth club members and youth volunteers. |
