Sunderbani, Sept 30: In continuation of the Gandhi Jayanti celebration, the NSS unit of Government Degree College Sunderbani, in collaboration with the Eco Club of the college, organized a water bodies' cleanliness drive and a rally. This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and raise awareness about the rejuvenation of water bodies. Under the guidance of NSS Program Officer Prof. Sheraz Kousser and other faculty members, including Prof. Beant Singh (Convenor Eco Club) and Prof. Sham Lam, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets participated in the event. The focus of the cleanliness drive was the water body in the village of Thandapani. They also worked to remove algal blooms, twigs, dead leaves, and silt from the bottom of the water body. Approximately 45 college volunteers actively participated in this cleanliness drive and rally, with the primary goal of spreading awareness about cleanliness and the importance of revitalizing water bodies. This initiative by Government Degree College Sunderbani aimed to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment both within the campus and in the surrounding areas. It reflects the commitment of the college and its students to promote cleanliness and sustainability, aligning with the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, whose birth anniversary is celebrated on Gandhi Jayanti. |
