Reasi Police crack down on drug peddlers

Reasi, Sept 30: In a continued effort to combat drug abuse, District Police Reasi has arrested four notorious drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of narcotics and prescription drugs from their possession.
Police officers from the Reasi Police Station apprehended two individuals, Ashok Kumar and Parshotam Kumar, both residents of the region, and recovered 3.5 grams of a substance resembling Heroin (Chitta) from them. A case (FIR No. 187/2023) has been registered at Police Reasi under the NDPS Act, and an investigation is underway to trace the source and distribution network.
In another incident, police officers at Searly Naka apprehended Kaku Ram and Munna, both sons of Bittu Ram from Serwad Katra, during a routine check and frisk operation. They discovered 23 strips of Tramadol Capsules and 20 strips of Alprazolam 0.5 grams in their possession. A case (FIR No. 303/2023) has been registered at Police Station Katra under the NDPS Act, and an investigation is underway to identify the supply chain.
The operation was led by Inspector Vijay Sharma from SHO Reasi and Inspector Nishant Gupta from SHO Katra, under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters, Neeraj Padyar, and SDPO Katra, Surinder Singh. Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Amit Gupta, conveyed the commitment of Reasi Police to eliminate the menace of drug abuse from the area. He urged people from all sections of society to join hands with the police and provide information related to drug abuse and drug peddlers/addicts in their areas through the dedicated anti-drug helpline number 9070907017. The identity of the caller will be kept confidential.
The crackdown on drug peddlers and drug abuse is part of a broader effort to maintain law and order in the region and protect the well-being of its residents.
