Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 2: Mahajan Sewa Sangh Charitable Trust (MSS) paid heartfelt tributes to the eminent social reformer, Sher e Duggar Lala Hansraj Mahajan, on the occasion of his 157th Birth Anniversary in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The event commenced with the dignified garlanding of a portrait of Lala Hansraj Mahajan, a luminary who not only founded the Mahajan Sabha Jammu but also played pivotal roles in the Dogra Sadar Sabha and Akhil Bharatiya Mahajan Shiromani Sabha.
While honoring the memory of Lala Hansraj, MSS President Neeraj Gupta highlighted his significant contributions as a social reformer and a catalyst for positive social change. Lala ji embarked on a mission to combat societal ills such as child marriage and 'Sati' (widow immolation). He also championed causes like the promotion of Khadi, fostering harmony among diverse communities, and advocating for widow remarriage. In addition, Lala Hansraj urged people to avoid extravagant and ostentatious spending on social occasions.
Shailender Vaid, Senior Vice-President of Sabha, announced that the Jammu Municipal Corporation plans to immortalize the legacy of the Dogra stalwart by dedicating a road, bridge, or other landmarks in his name, ensuring that future generations remember his contributions.
Advocate Anil Gupta, Cashier cum Secretary, emphasized that the true tribute to Sher-I-Duggar, Lala Hansraj, is to follow his selfless service-oriented approach towards humanity. He noted that while Mahajan ji is no longer with us, his name will forever resonate in our hearts due to his altruistic dedication to the betterment of society.
Lala Hansraj Mahajan played a pioneering role in establishing various associations of different communities, including the Mahajan Sabha and Rajput Sabha, as well as the Anjuman-i-Islamia. He served as their honorary secretary, fostering mutual cooperation among these groups in their shared mission of social reform.
