Early Times Report
GOOL, Oct 2: In a heartfelt commemoration of the birth anniversaries of two iconic leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, Govt. Degree College Gool organized a special event as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebration. The occasion witnessed the paying of floral tributes to the Father of the Nation and the 2nd Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The event, held in the college ground, was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Principal Prof. Maj. Dr. Karan Singh, who oversaw the proceedings with meticulous care. The program commenced with a solemn lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the offering of floral tributes by both the staff members and students in attendance. A significant number of students enthusiastically joined in the ceremony, reflecting their reverence for these great leaders.
During the event, Prof. S.A. Ganai shared insightful thoughts on the theme of "Nasha Mukt Bharat" (Drug-Free India) and "Swachhata Hi Sewa" (Cleanliness Campaign). He emphasized the profound significance of cleanliness, declaring it to be the mother of all virtues, and urged everyone to actively participate in keeping their surroundings clean.
Prof. Mohd Younus Saleem, the NSS Programme Officer, shed light on the life and remarkable contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri. He fondly remembered the enduring relevance of Shastriji's famous slogan, "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan," which resonates even today.
In his concluding remarks, Principal Prof. Maj. Dr. Karan Singh expounded on the benefits of a clean and orderly society. He emphasized that cleanliness should begin at home and proposed the formation of a committee comprised of staff members for the inspection of cleanliness in students' homes. The principal also announced an award for the most impeccably clean home, based on the committee's findings.
The event was graced by the presence of several faculty members, including Prof. Jatinder Lal, Dr. Zafar Hayat, Dr. Javaid Ahmed, and the non-teaching staff member Mohd Younas. Their participation added to the solemnity of the occasion and underscored the significance of remembering the timeless principles and values embodied by Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
