Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 2: The NCC cadets and NSS volunteers of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhinagar, enthusiastically participated in the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations on October 2, 2023. They took a pledge on the International Day of Non-Violence and Nasha Mukt J&K (Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir) to honor the enduring legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, an icon of non-violent resistance and a symbol of peace. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the potency of non-violence in effecting social change and resolving conflicts. A total of 52 volunteers from NSS Units 1 and 2, 83 cadets from 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, 45 cadets from 1 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, and 12 cadets from 1 J&K Naval NCC took the solemn pledge for peace. They committed to follow the path of non-violence and raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction through the Nasha Mukt J&K pledge. Prof. Minu Mahajan, the Principal of the College, led the pledge-taking ceremony, setting an example for others to follow in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi. Prof. Mala Bhasin, NSS Coordinator CLUJ, and Staff Secretary, Lt. Revika Arora, Prof. Anupama, Lt. Suman Bala, SLt. Neelima, and Prof. Sugandha also participated in the pledge-taking ceremony, emphasizing their commitment to emulate the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. The entire event was conducted under the able guidance of the College Principal, with coordination provided by the ANOs (Associate NCC Officers) and NSS Programme Officers of the College. This collective effort aimed to honor the principles of non-violence and advocate for a drug-free society, in line with Mahatma Gandhi's teachings and vision. |
