Gandhi exemplified peace, humanity, and secularism: Ghulam Nabi Azad
10/2/2023 10:14:31 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), reaffirmed the party's commitment to the principles of Gandhian ideology. He stated that nonviolence, truth, unity, and justice are the fundamental principles that the DPAP upholds in today's world. These principles form the core of the party's ideology and his vision for Jammu & Kashmir. Azad made these remarks during the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti at the DPAP office in Srinagar.
During the event, the Gandhi Global Foundation honored and commended Azad for his lifelong efforts and contributions in promoting Gandhian ideology. Azad emphasized that in the present era, characterized by materialistic interests overshadowing humanity, one can easily understand why Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his life to such principles. He stressed that Gandhi's focus was on building harmony, unity, and brotherhood based on justice and equality rather than pursuing power for personal gain.
Azad encouraged his party workers to read Gandhi's biography to gain insights into how lofty goals for humanity can be achieved peacefully and how a system of equality and justice can be established. He pointed out that Gandhi's life was not without challenges, as he faced opposition from all sides for speaking the truth. However, Gandhi remained steadfast in his pursuit of justice and equality, even in the face of adversity, making him the father of the nation.
Among those present at the event were Taj Mohiuddin (Treasurer), Vice Chairman G.M. Saroori, Padma Shri S.P. Verma, Mohd Amin Bhatt (Provincial President), Salman Nizami (Chief Spokesperson), Haji Musadiq, Shafiq Shabnam, Khalid Tufail, Amir Bhatt (District President), Arif Maqbool, Mushtaq Khanday, Amir Rasool, Umar Kakroo, and others.
