Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 2: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, paid heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on the occasion of his 154th birth anniversary at the party's provincial headquarters, Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu.
During his address to party functionaries, Dr. Farooq highlighted that this day not only marks the birth anniversary of Gandhi Ji but also commemorates his timeless values of nonviolence, social justice, and communal harmony. He noted that Mahatma Gandhi had seen hope in Jammu and Kashmir even when communal tensions gripped the rest of the country. The people of Jammu and Kashmir were inspired by his vision of a free India, which also contributed to the realization of the dream of "Naya Kashmir." Dr. Farooq emphasized the need to strengthen these values today.
Various public and workers' delegations, led by leaders such as Babu Rampaul, former minister and Central Zone President, Vijay Lochan, Chairman SC Cell, Abdul Gani Teli, Chairman OBC Cell, and others, met with Dr. Farooq at the provincial headquarters in Jammu. They discussed the challenges faced by the people of the Jammu region due to the absence of a popular government and the policies of the present administration.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah, along with other party leaders, also visited the residence of Pyare Lal Handoo, former Minister, to offer condolences on the untimely and tragic demise of his son Rajinder Handoo.
Those present at the occasion included Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, former minister and Additional General Secretary, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu Province, and several other party leaders and workers who shared their concerns and grievances with Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
