J&K police organizes "Kashmir Marathon-2023" for peace | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Police organized the "Kashmir Marathon-2023," an event focused on promoting peace and unity, as part of its Civic Action Programme. The marathon took place at the Lake View Environmental Park (Police Golf Course) on Boulevard Road in Srinagar, witnessing participation from over 5000 athletes from across the country. The marathon route covered the picturesque Nishat-Foreshore road, starting from Lake View Park Golf Course (LVPGC) and extending to Duck Park. Prizes worth a total of 652,000 rupees were distributed among the winners of the 13 different events, including on-spot raffle draw winners. Special DG CID, J&K, Shri R.R Swain presided as the Chief Guest of the event, accompanied by former DGsP A K Suri, Gopal Sharma, and Kuldeep Khoda, as well as several senior officers who distributed prizes and certificates among the winners. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, Special DG CID R.R. Swain expressed his gratitude to the former DGsP and other dignitaries for their presence at the event. He acknowledged the overwhelming participation of athletes from across India, emphasizing that the event's timing on Mahatma Gandhi's birthday holds special significance. Swain praised the efforts of ADGP Armed/IR J&K SJM Gillani and his team in successfully organizing the mega event. He highlighted Mahatma Gandhi's belief in the essential role of the police, emphasizing that the success of the police is possible only with the support and cooperation of the people. Swain reiterated the Jammu and Kashmir Police's commitment to work for the safety, security, and welfare of law-abiding citizens. In a media interaction, Special DG (CID) Swain noted that the J&K Police is fighting against elements receiving external support and promoting violence. He highlighted the unique challenges faced by the J&K Police and its commitment to eliminate fear from the hearts and minds of the common people. Former DGP A.K Suri commended the improved situation in Kashmir and praised the J&K Police's commitment to peace and tranquility. He emphasized the positive impact of sports on health and fitness, encouraging participants to engage in sports for overall well-being. ADGP Armed/IR J&K, S.J.M Gillani, welcomed all dignitaries and participants, expressing gratitude for their support. He highlighted the growth in participation, with over 5000 athletes joining the event, compared to 3500 in the previous year. He also mentioned the various events organized by the J&K Police under its Civic Action Programme. |
