Police seizes 49 bottles of illicit liquor on dry day | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Oct 3: In a concerted effort to combat the sale of illicit liquor, Samba Police recently seized 49 bottles of illicit liquor within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur. During a routine night patrol in the Vijaypur area, a police team from Police Station Vijaypur discovered 49 bottles, each containing 180 ml of JK Special Whisky, being sold near Matador Stand Vijaypur Ramgarh road. The seller, identified as Pankaj Sharma, also known as Batly, and a resident of Gurha Morh Vijaypur, was allegedly peddling the liquor at exorbitant rates to maximize his illicit gains. However, upon spotting the police party, the accused managed to evade capture. A case has been registered in this regard under FIR No. 134/2023 U/S 48 (f) of the Excise Act at Police Station Vijaypur. The police have initiated an investigation to locate and apprehend the accused. It is worth noting that the incident occurred on a designated "Dry Day," and the accused was taking advantage of the situation to sell illicit liquor to the public at inflated prices. The operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO Police Station Vijaypur, Inspector Sandeep Charak, with the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur, Rohit Kumar, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary. Samba Police continues its relentless efforts to combat the illegal sale of liquor and ensure the safety and well-being of the community. |
