Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 3: The two-week refresher course for Gazetted Officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police commenced on October 3, 2023, at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA). A total of 23 Deputy Superintendents of Police (Dy.SsP) reported to undergo this comprehensive training program. The agenda of the course encompasses the priorities outlined by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), focusing on the current and future challenges faced by the police force. Eminent speakers and experts have been invited to deliver lectures and share their valuable experiences and knowledge with the participants. Some of the notable speakers include Dr. Rashi Taggar, Dr. Sarita Sood, Dr. Ranjan Sharma, Mumtaz Ahmed, SSP of JK Police, Shargun Shukla, IPS, SSP, Jaswant Parihar JKPS, Dy.SP, and Shamshar Singh, JKPS, Dy.SP, along with faculty members from the Cyber Cell in Jammu. The inaugural function for the course was organized with Shri Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor) of the Academy, serving as the chief guest. Shri Gupta warmly welcomed all the participants on behalf of the Director of SKPA. In his address, he emphasized the critical role of supervisory officers within the police department and assured the trainee officers that SKPA is well-equipped to provide them with the necessary training to face the future challenges. These challenges include technology advancements, cybercrime, drone threats, and various law and order situations. Gupta stressed the importance of adopting a practical approach to resolving law and order issues rather than relying on excessive force. He highlighted that the successful handling of law and order situations, while maintaining peace, is a testament to effective leadership in the police force. Gupta encouraged the officers to enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitudes during the training and participate actively in interactive sessions. In another inaugural function at SKPA, a 10-day Basic Training program for the Implementation of the Student Police Cadet (SPC) Scheme was launched. This training program is attended by 22 Inspectors from various police units and wings. The SPC Scheme, launched nationally on July 21, 2018, aims to bridge the gap between the police and the community by instilling values and ethics in school-going students. Shri Rajinder Gupta provided an overview of the scheme during the inaugural address. The inaugural functions were attended by Rajesh Kumar Bali, IPS, SSP, Dy. Director, along with other officers and staff members of the Academy. |
