GDC Vijaypur celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

VIJAYPUR, Oct 3: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur commemorated Gandhi Jayanti with a powerful emphasis on the enduring principles of cleanliness, truth, and non-violence. The college's NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) organized a skit that garnered enthusiastic participation from numerous students, creating an impactful event. The skit, a centerpiece of the event, featured a series of thought-provoking scenes that beautifully encapsulated the essence of truth and non-violence. These visual narratives aimed to inspire and impart the values championed by Mahatma Gandhi himself. The highlight of the skit was a captivating presentation titled "Champaran Satyagraha," which served as an interactive and engaging exploration of the intersection between society and the principles of truth and non-violence, echoing the timeless teachings of Gandhi.
This initiative was part of a broader plan to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in 2023. Dr. Radhika Rasyal, a Lecturer in the Department of History, played a pivotal role in orchestrating the skit, ensuring its success. The overall coordination and guidance were provided by Dr. Vandana Gupta, the Principal of the College. In her address to the audience, she expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of all the participants and contributors, emphasizing the event's meaningful and enlightening experience. Dr. Gupta noted that the celebration not only paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, but also encouraged students to reflect upon and internalize his principles of truth and non-violence. This, in turn, fosters a sense of social responsibility and harmony.
Approximately 90 students from the college had the opportunity to witness the skit, and it received resounding applause from the audience. The skit was organized under the leadership of Dr. Shittal Sharma, Convenor of NSS; Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, NSS Programme Officer; and Poonam Kundan, Convenor of the Cultural Committee. The skit not only celebrated the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of truth, non-violence, and cleanliness in our society. The event left a lasting impact on both the participants and the audience, reinforcing the timeless relevance of Gandhi's ideals.
