Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 9: In a spirited endeavor to promote fitness, cleanliness, and a sense of freedom, NSS Unit II at GGM Science College organized the Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run 4.0. The event, held under the patronage of the esteemed Principal, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, and under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Deepali Mahajan, aimed to inspire physical activity, celebrate an active lifestyle, and advocate for a healthier India. The event commenced with the official flag-off by the respected Principal, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, infusing the run with a sense of purpose and enthusiasm. Prof. M S Saini and Prof. Rajkumar Gupta, distinguished figures in the academic community, graced the occasion with their presence, adding prestige to the event. The Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run 4.0 saw a remarkable turnout of enthusiastic NSS volunteers from GGM Science College. Among those who participated were Palvinder Kour, Siya Gupta, Sanchit Sharma, Ananya Gupta, Himanshu Sharma, Divyansh Nadh, Tamana Dogra, Pragti Salgotra, Anamika Thukaan, Aditi Bassin, Sana Thakur, Manisha Sharma, Simran Bharti, Harkeen Kour, Solaney, Amanpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh, Anuj Sukha, Sumit, Danish, Anuradha, Irfan, and Divyanshu Sharma. The primary objective of the run was to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of incorporating 30 minutes of physical fitness into their daily routines. It also aimed to celebrate the achievements of those leading an active lifestyle, fostering a commitment to both "Swachh Bharat" (Clean India) and "Swasth Bharat" (Healthy India). The motto of the day was "Hum Fit Toh India Fit" - emphasizing the role of fitness in our national well-being. The Fit India Movement, launched by Shri Narendra Modi Ji, seeks to encourage individuals to dedicate time to physical activity and sports every day. It also calls on citizens to motivate their family members and neighbors to prioritize physical fitness, thereby contributing to India's transformation into a fit nation. The movement endeavors to bring about behavioral changes and inspire a more physically active lifestyle among the Indian population. Its goals include: Promoting fitness as accessible, enjoyable, and free. Raising awareness about various physical activities that contribute to fitness through focused campaigns. Encouraging indigenous sports. Ensuring that fitness reaches every school, college/university, and panchayat/village. Creating a platform for Indians to share information, raise awareness, and inspire others with their personal fitness journeys.
