IRCS organizes healthcare camp in slum areas
10/9/2023 10:14:35 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 9: The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, is committed to improving the healthcare and well-being of underserved communities under the esteemed leadership of the Lt. Governor, who serves as the President of the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT. In pursuit of this mission, IRCS organized a comprehensive Medical Checkup, Immunization, and Eye Checkup Camp in the slum area of Maratha Colony, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu on October 9th, 2023. The event provided essential healthcare services to 70 children and adults in the community.
This initiative aims to bridge the healthcare disparities faced by residents in slum areas, who often lack access to basic medical services. By bringing these vital healthcare services directly to the community, the Indian Red Cross Society intends to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the underserved.
A team from the Red Cross, including Dr. Kavita Nijohn Verma (Medical Officer), Kanchan Devi (Sup. Pharmacist), Nazia Bano (FMPHW), and Kuldeep Bhat (Ophthalmologist), actively participated in the camp. The camp encompassed a range of services, including general health assessments, vital sign measurements, eye examinations, and consultations to address common health concerns such as sanitation and personal hygiene. The camp was meticulously organized under the close supervision of Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary of IRCS, J&K-UT. His guidance and support played a crucial role in ensuring the success of this healthcare outreach initiative.
The Indian Red Cross Society's commitment to providing healthcare services to marginalized communities is aligned with its humanitarian mission of alleviating suffering and enhancing the quality of life. Initiatives like these exemplify the organization's dedication to serving those in need.
