DC reviews saturation of Self-Employment schemes in Doda

DODA, Oct 9: To provide gainful employment to the desiring unemployed youth of the district, the Central and UT government has launched a variety of self-employment schemes. Through these schemes, training, financial assistance, and handholding are provided to interested entrepreneurs by the intending departments to enable them to establish a viable venture.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Mahajan convened a meeting of the stakeholder departments and reviewed their performance.
The DC, while reviewing the saturation of the schemes, asked the stakeholders to strive for creating Agro and Tourism Cooperatives across the district to boost the local economy while rejuvenating traditional customs and business practices. He also impressed upon the Handloom and Handicrafts departments to revive the local Pattu making (Handmade woollen cloth) and other crafts in the district to improve rural economic activities with special focus to provide livelihood opportunity to women folk in their vicinity. The DC directed the concerned to hold the review meeting on employment generation status on the first Monday of each month.
It was informed that till September this year, 1631 cases have been sanctioned out of 2176 sponsored cases, and 941 cases have been disbursed, creating employment for 2492 youth, under PMEGP, JKREGP, MUMKIN, TEJASWINI, NMDFC, NM-EDU, direct finance scheme, ISDS, HADP, Aqua Culture Development Plan, and other like schemes.
The Deputy Director Employment and LDM were asked to coordinate and make sure that all the desiring applicants get their chosen financial assistance at the earliest.
The stakeholder departments were further asked to run an extensive advertisement in the media about their schemes and invite applications from the eligible unemployed youth for greater awareness and saturation of the schemes.
After the review meeting, the interview of the candidates who had applied for financial assistance under JKREGP was conducted to assess the applicants’ calibre and to ensure the units created through the financial assistance provide livelihood to the beneficiary.
The meeting was attended by CPO Doda Suresh Kumar, GM DIC/ DD Employment Idrees Lone, LDM, District Coordinator JK Bank, DIO Doda, Dy Registrar Cooperatives Doda, Principal Polytechnic College Doda, Superintendent ITI Doda, District Manager KVIB, District officer NULM/ NRLM, District Manager SC/ST/OBC Corporation, PO DUDA, representatives of Handloom, Handicrafts and other concerned officials.
