Jammu, Oct 9: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, in collaboration with SPMR College, inaugurated a 7-day Theatre workshop at Commerce College in Jammu. Mr. Bharat Singh, (JKAS), Secretary of JKAACL, extended his best wishes to the participating students and emphasized the importance of learning the basics of Theatre art for overall personality development. He highlighted the recent Theatre festivals organized by JKAACL in both Jammu and Kashmir regions and announced the commencement of Theatre festival phase 2 from October 25, 2023, at Abhinav Theatre. He hoped that the students would benefit greatly from the expertise of professionals from the National School of Drama (NSD) and Indian Theatre. Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of Commerce College, welcomed JKAACL and expressed gratitude for organizing workshops like this for SPMR College students. The workshop features Bhasha Sumbli, an NSD alumni known for her role in “Kashmir Files,” and Mr. Aditya Bharti, an alumnus of the Department of Indian Theatre, as Theatre experts. Sh. Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor Dogri, shared the aims and objectives of the 7-day workshop, while Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Senior Drama Instructor at JKAACL, emphasized the benefits of Theatre art for overall personality development, noting that it has been introduced as a subject in various educational institutions.
