SK Police Academy hosts National Cybercrime Investigation Course to Combat Digital Threats | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Oct 10: In an effort to bolster the fight against the rising tide of cybercrime, the S.K Police Academy in Udhampur is hosting a 5-day course on "Investigation of Cyber Crime." The course, sponsored by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to combat cyber threats effectively. Twenty-six officers from various State Police and the Jammu & Kashmir Police, ranging in rank from Sub-Inspector to Deputy Superintendent, are actively participating in this intensive training program. The primary focus of the course is to enhance participants' expertise in investigating cybercrime and cyber fraud cases. During the inaugural function, Sh. Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, highlighted the pressing need for such training in the face of the increasing frequency of cybercrimes in the virtual space. Cybercrimes such as cyberbullying, stalking, online job fraud, phishing, virus attacks, and crypto-jacking are becoming more common, underscoring the importance of equipping law enforcement officials with the necessary skills and knowledge. Eminent guest speakers from institutions like IIT Jammu and GCET Jammu, along with professionals from the Cyber Police Station Jammu, are sharing their expertise with the participants. The course covers various aspects of cybercrime, including legal measures to counter it, Cyber Forensics, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for cybercrime investigation. Hands-on sessions have been incorporated into the training program to provide practical experience in cybercrime investigation techniques. The course is being coordinated by Inspr. Rohit Gupta, with the support of HC Randip Singh and faculty members from SKPA. The course aims to create a cadre of cybercrime investigation experts who can effectively prevent, detect, investigate, and prosecute cybercriminals, thus contributing to a safer digital environment for all citizens. The S.K Police Academy continues to play a pivotal role in training law enforcement officers and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to address evolving challenges in the realm of law enforcement.
