NEW DELHI, Oct 10: In a comprehensive performance review meeting, Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager of Northern Railway, reinforced the railway's commitment to safety, efficiency, and service excellence. The meeting, attended by departmental heads of Northern Railway and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs), focused on several critical aspects to enhance railway operations.
Safety took center stage, with a strong emphasis on ensuring the well-being of passengers and staff. Mr. Chaudhuri stressed that maintaining the highest standards of safety is paramount, encompassing tracks, rolling stock, signaling systems, and electric overhead wires. The GM reviewed the ongoing efforts to improve track maintenance, signal system functionality, and other safety measures, particularly in preparation for the upcoming fog season. He urged officials to expedite the removal of scrap materials near railway tracks and to increase night patrolling to enhance security. Additionally, visual inspections of rail ends and fish bolt holes were highlighted, along with proactive measures to identify and address potential rail fracture-prone areas.
Chaudhuri underscored the importance of staff training and counseling to enhance safety awareness and minimize human error in train operations. He urged department heads and DRMs to prioritize punctuality while maintaining the safety of freight loading operations.
The review also touched upon the development of freight business, with a focus on strengthening the outreach of Business Development Units (BDUs). Chaudhuri stressed the need for BDUs to foster trust, support, and confidence among customers while ensuring that railway initiatives and concessions reach their intended recipients. Notably, the General Manager highlighted the steady increase in the loading of food grains and other commodities month by month.
Northern Railway remains unwavering in its commitment to providing safe, efficient, and reliable services to its valued customers. Under Chaudhuri's leadership, the railway continues to prioritize safety on tracks, the operation of trains, punctuality, and overall service quality.
