Kargil: Some NC leaders unhappy with decision to rotate CEC post with Cong | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 12: All is not well in the Kargil unit of the National Conference following reports that the party will equally share four posts of executive councillors of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development (LAHDC) Kargil. A section within the Kargil unit of the National Conference is also not happy with the decision to rotate the post of the Chief Executive Councillors with the Congress. Highly placed sources said that a section with the National Conference suggested that instead of giving an equal share to the Congress the leadership should accommodate the coalition partner by giving only two posts of executive councillors. “A section within the Kargil unit of the National Conference is not ready to share the post of Chief Executive Councillor with the Congress because the party (NC) is in a position to muster a majority on its own”, sources said. Out of the total 26 seats, the ruling National Conference has secured 12 seats followed by 10 seats by the Congress. Two seats each won by BJP and Independents. As reported earlier the Kargil unit of the National Conference was not interested in accommodating Congress in the Council because the party is in a comfortable position to constitute its council without taking the support of any other party. Independent candidates Ghulam Mohammad and Syed Ali who won elections from Barsoo and Gund Mangalpur constituencies have defeated Congress candidates so they are ready to support the National Conference in the formation of the Council. |
