Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 18: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of GCW Bhagwati Nagar, under the able guidance of the college's Principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol, spearheaded a significant cleanliness drive as part of the 'Swacchata Hi Sewa Hi' campaign. This noble initiative is aimed at promoting and upholding the values and principles of cleanliness and hygiene across the country. The cleanliness campaign commenced in the adopted village of Gole Gujral, where NSS volunteers demonstrated their commitment to the cause by actively collecting garbage, plastic, and polythene waste. Additionally, they took the opportunity to raise awareness among local residents about the importance of avoiding single-use plastics and maintaining clean and tidy surroundings. Furthering their dedication to the cause, the cleanliness drive extended to the adopted slum area of 'Om Nagar.' This endeavor seeks to enhance the living environment for the residents, creating a cleaner, healthier, and more dignified space, while also emphasizing the vital role of cleanliness and hygiene in daily life. During the event, Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol delivered a compelling speech on the significance of sanitation and cleanliness. She took the opportunity to honor the college's sweeper for their noble service in maintaining a clean environment. Dr. Abrol emphasized that a clean and green environment is fundamental to sustainable development. Following these meaningful activities, NSS volunteers, along with students and faculty members, actively participated in a cleanliness drive within the college campus and its surroundings.
