Jammu, Oct 22: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on Sunday organised a seminar to deliberate on the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS),Katra. The seminar held on the penultimate day of the eight day long multimedia exhibition underway in Katra, was part of a series of similar activities organised to apprise people about different public welfare schemes. For the last seven days, experts from nodal departments have been providing information about schemes and programmes like financial inclusion,financial literacy, Poshan Abhiyaan, NEP2020, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Ayushman Bharat- PMJAY and other major flagship schemes of the government. On Sunday, Dr. Chander Mohan, Associate Professor, Government Degree College,Katra gave a detailed presentation on NEP-2020. Calling the policy futuristic and pathbreaking, Sh. Mohan said that NEP-2020 has been conceived to meet the aspirations of a new India. While deliberating upon the key aspects of the policy, he said that it envisions a system of education which blends best practices from the world with the time tested traditional Indian learning. He said that the curriculum under NEP-2020 lays special emphasis on the foundational literacy, numeracy and imparting practical knowledge. Welcoming the guests on the seventh day, Khursheed Yousuf, Field Publicity Officer, CBC, Udhampur and Nodal Officer for the event briefed the audience about the activities organised during the multimedia exhibition. He said that CBC’s exhibition has disseminated information through photo exhibits, informative standees, expert lectures, IEC material as well as by means of theme based cultural programs. He impressed upon the participants particularly the youths to benefit from the information being provided through various mediums during the event. He asked them to amplify the message in their respective localities. In his address, Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer, CBC, expressed gratitude to the guests and participants, especially the students for ensuring their presence even on a public holiday. He added that such a response and enthusiasm serves as a source of encouragement for CBC. Sh. Lone also provided a brief overview of the working and the mandate of the CBC and its integrated strategy. He urged the local residents to be part of the daily cultural evening being organised by the bureau, which he said, provides glimpses of the nation’s unique cultural diversity, as well as celebrates India’s matchless achievements in different sectors during the past nine years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan. During the day students took part in various activities which included poetry recitation, elocution, dance, singing, painting and an open quiz competition. The activities were based on the themes like national integration, communal harmony, patriotism and cleanliness. Empanelled cultural troupe of the CBC also presented theme based cultural programs as part of the program. Others who attended the programme included, Gurnam Singh, TA(S), CBC Udhampur, Sh. Neeraj, FPA, CBC Srinagar, staff artists of CBC Jammu as well as teachers and students from Dev Kids Public High School, Katra, Evergreen Model Academy, Katra and Trikuta Higher Secondary School Katra. Earlier on Saturday evening, Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Reasi Saraf Singh Nag attended the cultural events as Chief Guest alongside Rajinder Chaudhry, Additional Director General (ADG), CBC/PIB, Chandigarh and J&K region. Sh. Nag was also accompanied by Sham Lal Bhagat, Chairman, Block Development Council, Katra. Other dignitaries present included Ghulam Abass, Joint Director, CBC, J&K and Ladakh Region and Dr. K. C Dogra former Deputy Director, J&K Health Services. Addressing a gathering of locals residents and devotees at GHSS Katra, Sh. Nag commended the CBC for organising the multimedia exhibition and involving artists from different states in the cultural programmes. He said that people should take advantage of the information about welfare schemes displayed through the exhibits. He said informed masses are key for development at the grassroots level. Pertinently, CBC empanelled troupes have been participating in Prabhat Pheris, Shoba Yatras and daily cultural events during the ongoing annual Navratra Festival at Katra in Reasi. |
