Early Times Report KATRA, Oct 23: The eight-day multimedia exhibition, themed "9 Years: Seva Sushasan and Garib Kalyan," organized by the Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office, Udhampur, in Katra, came to a successful conclusion. The exhibition, a part of CBC's outreach activities during the Navratra Festival, was inaugurated on October 16, 2023, by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (IC) for Science and Technology, MoS in PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space. On the final day of the exhibition, a seminar was conducted to raise awareness about various aspects of substance abuse, the roles of citizens, law enforcement agencies, and drug de-addiction centers. This seminar was organized in collaboration with the Katra police. Raj Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and Officer on Special Duty, graced the program as the Chief Guest, accompanied by S.S Billoria, Dy. SP, Shakeel Ahmad, DySP, and Inspector Nishant Gupta. Ashutosh, Sub Inspector, was the designated resource person deputed by Katra police to educate the audience about substance abuse, drug addiction, and related issues. He discussed the early symptoms that indicate a person's addiction to drugs, psychotropic substances, and narcotics. Ashutosh urged parents to monitor their children's behavior, inquire about their whereabouts, and the company they keep. He highlighted that many addicts start using drugs under peer pressure and for recreational purposes. Addressing the police's role, he emphasized their commitment to curbing drug trafficking and peddling. In his keynote address, Raj Kumar stressed the collective responsibility of the police and the public in combatting this menace. He encouraged citizens to act as the eyes and ears of law enforcement agencies and promptly report any suspicious activities. The concluding day of the exhibition was marked by mesmerizing performances from students and empaneled troupes hailing from various states, including Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and West Bengal. These performances celebrated India's rich cultural and linguistic diversity, leaving the audience enthralled. Ghulam Abass, Joint Director of CBC, J&K, and Ladakh region, along with Sh. Khursheed Yousuf, Nodal Officer of the event, expressed their gratitude to all stakeholders for their support in making the eight-day event a grand success. They urged participants to spread the knowledge and information provided by CBC through exhibits, expert lectures, IEC materials, and theme-based cultural programs. During the concluding ceremony, CBC recognized and felicitated the cultural troupes, participating students, and other stakeholders, including the police, municipal committee, fire and emergency services, media, and technical teams, for their invaluable contributions. |
