Media urged to spotlight beneficiaries of Government schemes in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Katra, Oct 23: Rajinder Chaudhry, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Northern Region, emphasized the importance of media portraying ground level stories focusing on the beneficiaries of Government of India schemes during a Vartalap program in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. PIB Jammu’s Vartalap serves as a vital bridge connecting the government with the media to effectively reach out to the grassroots. Shri Chaudhry urged media professionals to play a pivotal role in showcasing success stories of individuals who have reaped the benefits of government schemes within the region. Concurrently, he encouraged the media to utilize feedback mechanisms to alert the government to any implementation issues or deficiencies in development programs. In a detailed presentation highlighting ‘9 Years of Seva, Sushasan, and Gharib Kalyan,’ the ADG elucidated the significant developmental strides undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir. Notable achievements in the region encompassed the establishment of institutions like AIIMS, IIM, IIMC, and IIT. Chaudhry underscored the achievements of the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Mission, which has provided universal healthcare coverage to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged media professionals to accentuate similar achievements in their reporting, promoting transparency and awareness. The Vartalap event featured presentations by distinguished speakers, including Shri Rakesh Kumar Salgotra, Horticulture Development Officer, Reasi; Shri Gopal Dutt, Block Medical Officer, Reasi; and Mohd. Arif Lone, Assistant Director, Tourism. They shared their respective department’s achievements and initiatives over the past nine years. In his opening remarks, Shri Ghulam Abbas, Joint Director, PIB, Jammu, called on the media to publish balanced and credible stories. He urged the media to play an active role in disseminating information about the Government of India’s welfare programs and schemes to the public. Additionally, Mr. Abbas encouraged media professionals to avail themselves of the Journalist Welfare Scheme, offering financial assistance to journalists and their families during times of extreme hardship. A Question and Answer (Q&A) session provided an opportunity for media representatives to voice the challenges they face in the execution of their professional duties. The Vartalap program at Katra aimed to foster greater collaboration between the media and the government, ensuring comprehensive coverage of government initiatives and beneficiaries in the region. |
