Rajouri, Oct 24: In their relentless fight against narcotics trafficking and its detrimental influence on the youth, Rajouri police successfully apprehended a notorious narcotics peddler on Tuesday, seizing a stash of narcotics powder, tablets, and a weighing machine from his possession. The accused has been identified as Sheraz Ahmed, also known as Raja and Billu, the son of Mohd Azam and a resident of Pahata Thanna in the Darhal police station area of Rajouri district. Acting on specific intelligence, a team from Rajouri Police, led by Deputy SP Headquarters Mudassir Hussain, and a team from Darhal, headed by SDPO Thanamandi Khaliq Hussain, alongside personnel from the Anti Drugs Squad, carried out a raid in a village in Darhal, successfully intercepting the accused. Upon conducting a search, narcotics powder and tablets were confiscated, and a small weighing machine used by the accused for the sale of narcotics was also recovered. The seized material has been confiscated, and the accused peddler has been taken into custody. A case under FIR No. 95/2023, including relevant sections of the law, has been registered at the Darhal Police Station, and an investigation is now underway. SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh (IPS), underscored the zero tolerance policy of the J&K Police against narcotics peddling. In Rajouri district, stringent actions have been taken against these peddlers, resulting in numerous arrests and the seizure of drug consignments. He also highlighted the dedicated efforts of the Anti Drugs Squad, working diligently to clamp down on narcotics-related crime. Additionally, police teams at the station and police post levels are actively enforcing a zero-tolerance policy, which has yielded significant results in recent months. SSP Rajouri emphasized the pivotal role of parents and guardians in preventing individuals from falling into the trap of drug-related crimes. He stressed that the effort to combat this issue begins within households, and all members of society should recognize their moral responsibility in addressing this problem. |
