Ramban, Oct 26: In an effort to combat bovine smuggling and curtail the menace in Ramban District, the Ramban Police, under the direction of SSP Ramban, Ms. Mohita Sharma-IPS, has taken stringent action. Over the past three weeks, nineteen different vehicles have been intercepted by various police teams. These vehicles, bearing registration numbers as listed below, were en route from Jammu to Srinagar. Upon inspection, they were found to be loaded with a total of 375 bovine animals. These animals were kept in deplorable conditions, suffering from cruelty, without access to food and water. Nineteen cases have been registered at Police Stations Batote, Chanderkote, Ramban, and Ramsoo, with nineteen accused individuals booked in connection with these cases. All the vehicles have been seized, and the accused persons have been arrested under relevant sections of the law, with investigations now underway. The operation was conducted by police teams led by the SHOs of Batote, Chanderkote, Ramban, and Ramsoo, under the supervision of the Dy.SP Hqrs Ramban and SDPO Banihal. Ramban Police is dedicated to taking every possible step to combat the issue of bovine smuggling and encourages the public to share information about such activities with the police for timely intervention. |
