NSS GDC Sidhra Hosts Lecture on the Importance of Khadi | | | Early Times Report
Sidhra, Oct 28: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat and the state government’s efforts to make the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir self-reliant, NSS GDC Sidhra organized a lecture on the significance of Khadi. The event aimed to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and promote Khadi as an emblem of self-reliance. Dr. Punam Rani, Head of the History Department, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. B.B. Anand, Principal of GDC Sidhra. Prof. Dr. B.B. Anand underscored the pride associated with the Khadi industry, highlighting its pivotal role in India’s quest for independence. He emphasized that promoting the Khadi industry aligns with the ideology of self-reliance and empowers every individual. Prof. Dr. B.B. Anand emphasized that Khadi serves as a symbol of self-reliance and Indian identity, and its significance lies in its role in India’s struggle for independence. To honor Mahatma Gandhi’s guidance towards India’s independence, he called for government initiatives to open new outlets for selling and promoting Khadi clothing and products. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Indu Koul. The successful execution of the event was made possible by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, with support from Prof. Deepa Kak, Dr. Rudrika Khajuria, Dr. Satbir Kour, and members of the NSS Unit. This lecture highlighted the enduring relevance and significance of Khadi in the context of self-reliance and the Indian identity, aligning with the ideals set forth by Mahatma Gandhi. |
