Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 31: The Union Territory Foundation Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety in the winter capital, Jammu. The main event was held at Teachers Bhawan, with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, as the chief guest. The event commenced with the lighting of a traditional lamp by the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests. Various departments, including Skill Development, Social Welfare, Health, Jal Jeevan Mission, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, Agriculture, and the Regional Transport Office, set up stalls to showcase their initiatives. They also provided online services to the public. Self-help groups and NGOs participated actively, displaying their products and crafts. The Divisional Commissioner praised the departments for highlighting their schemes and the entrepreneurs for showcasing their products and services. The event featured a cultural show with Dogri songs by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages. Students from different schools presented skits, songs, dances, and a cultural costume parade. Documentaries were screened on the government's flagship initiatives, focusing on projects related to the Smart City, River Tawi front view, smart mobility, and data science. The Directorate of Information screened a documentary showcasing the extensive progress made by the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory in the past four years. During the event, the Divisional Commissioner handed over loan sanction letters to beneficiaries from the Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries departments, allowing them to start their entrepreneurial journeys. Approval letters for old age pensions, widow pensions, and disability pension schemes from the Social Welfare Department were also presented to beneficiaries. Specially-abled individuals received keys to tricycles to enhance their mobility and independence. In his address, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized the importance of completing various developmental projects in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those aimed at expanding the infrastructure in key sectors. He highlighted the ongoing progress in the Union Territory, mentioning completed projects and those currently under execution. The Divisional Commissioner stressed the significance of different departments, schemes, and projects in promoting comprehensive development in the Union Territory. The celebration of the UT Foundation Day in Jammu exemplified the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir to usher in development and progress across all sectors. The event showcased unity, innovation, and the dedication of various departments and individuals working towards a brighter future for the Union Territory.
