Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 1: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Kunjwani, in collaboration with the Cultural Committee, celebrated the UT Foundation Day of Jammu & Kashmir with great enthusiasm. The event was organized under the patronage of College Principal Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo, with the support of the Higher Education Department. Dr. Deep Novel Kour, Under Secretary to the Government Higher Education Department, graced the college campus with her presence and addressed the students. In her speech, she highlighted the significance of organizing such events, emphasizing that they provide students with numerous opportunities to showcase their talents in various competitive events. The College Principal, in his address, shed light on the positive changes that have taken place since the creation of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory. He stated that the Jammu and Kashmir administration is celebrating October 31, 2023, as the 'Union Territory Foundation Day' with the theme "Badalta Jammu Kashmir, Badhta Jammu Kashmir; Aman aur Taraqqi Ki Nayi Tasveer" (Changing Jammu and Kashmir, Growing Jammu and Kashmir; A New Picture of Peace and Progress). Prof. Balinjder Kour, the convener of the cultural committee, recited poetry on the theme "Badalta Jammu Kashmir, Badhta Jammu Kashmir; Aman aur Taraqqi Ki Nayi Tasveer." Students of the fifth semester participated in a short play that showcased the changes in various fields, such as medical, educational, judiciary, sports, and others. They also emphasized the opportunities offered by the government through various schemes and the platform for more progress and development. Students from the first and fifth semesters provided detailed information on the theme, and Prof. Bushra Nizami from the Department of Sociology gave an extensive presentation. As a symbol of unity, the participants also took a pledge on National Unity Day. The entire program was compared by Lakishta Singh and Azmat Choudhary, with Dr. Neeru Sharma, while Prof. Bushra Nizami delivered the formal vote of thanks. This one-day program was a testament to the college's commitment to promoting unity, celebrating positive transformations, and providing a platform for students to express their talents and ideas. It was a reflection of the spirit of progress and development in the region, resonating with the theme of "A New Picture of Peace and Progress" for Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory. |
