Early Times Report
BASOHLI, Nov 4: Government Degree College (GDC), Basohli, in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu, came together to observe Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 with a comprehensive Sensitization/Awareness Programme and Speech Competition, centered around the theme, "Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation." This initiative aimed to increase awareness about the perils of corruption and inspire a commitment to integrity within the community. The event was marked by active participation from both faculty and students of GDC Basohli. The program commenced with a thought-provoking address by a distinguished guest, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from the Anti-Corruption Bureau. The DSP provided invaluable insights into the gravity of corruption and its detrimental effects on society, setting the tone for the day's events. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to combat this menace and encouraged the audience to actively engage in anti-corruption initiatives, recognizing the critical role played by individuals in this endeavor. Corruption is a pressing issue that affects the development and progress of nations worldwide. The highlight of the event was the Speech Competition, where students demonstrated their speaking skills and a profound understanding of the theme. A panel of jury members, including Dr. Papinder Bhagat, Dr. Sumit Dubey, and Dr. Gotam Singh, selected the competition winners: Sahil - First Prize, Anthony - Second Prize, and Kiran Bala - Third Prize. Sahil delivered an impassioned speech on the dire consequences of corruption and the urgent need for individuals to commit to building a corruption-free nation. Anthony emphasized the pivotal role of youth in actively opposing corruption, while Kiran Bala discussed the significance of ethical leadership in eliminating corruption. The competition not only provided a platform for students to express their views but also encouraged critical thinking about the issue of corruption and the proposal of practical solutions for a more transparent and accountable society. The collaboration between GDC Basohli and the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu, was instrumental in the success of this event. It showcased the commitment of educational institutions and government agencies working together to combat corruption at all levels of society.
