GDC Sidhra promotes vigilance, Anti-Corruption awareness

JAMMU, Nov 4: Government Degree College, Sidhra, is actively observing Vigilance Awareness Week from October 30 to November 5, 2023, under the theme "Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation," as designated by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). This initiative aims to raise awareness among students about the importance of working towards building a corruption-free nation while fostering transparency, absolute integrity, and a strong commitment to duty.
Pawan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commandant of the 4th Battalion Security in Jammu, delivered a lecture on this occasion. He emphasized the significance of taking preventive measures in line with the focus areas recommended by the CVC and highlighted the role of the CVC's guidelines in achieving fair, ethical, and sustainable development. Sharma urged everyone to say no to corruption as a demonstration of their allegiance to the country. He encouraged students to leverage new technologies to enhance accountability and efficiency. In addition, he provided a detailed explanation of the disciplinary proceedings process, describing the responsibilities of the Inquiry Officer and Presenting Officer, and emphasizing the relevant provisions of the Constitution and Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) Rules. Sharma also addressed the essential principles of public procurement, highlighting the importance of documenting communication and record-keeping while discussing the "Vivad se Vishwas" scheme of the Government of India.
The event was conducted under the overall supervision and able guidance of Prof. Dr. B.B. Anand, Principal of GDC Sidhra. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, and the event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Punam Rani, HOD History. The successful organization of the program was made possible through the joint efforts of Dr. Mussarat Choudhary, HOD of the Department of Economics and Program Officer of the NSS Unit, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed. Additionally, the event was supported by Prof. Deepa Kak, Dr. Rudrika Khajuria, and Dr. Satbir Kour, members of the NSS Unit. Several faculty members, including Dr. Harpreet Kour, Prof. Shonima Malhotra, Dr. Meesha Bhagat, Dr. Anshu Gupta, Dr. Anu Sharma, Prof. Pooja Sharma, Lect. Ritika Dogra, Dr. Princy Sharma, Dr. Indu Koul, and Ruchika Sudan, were also present on this occasion.
