JKTJAC holds monthly meeting, demands resolution of key issues | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Nov 5: The Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC), led by District President Udhampur, Lekh Raj Parihar, held its monthly meeting in Udhampur on November 4, 2023. The meeting was attended by JKTJAC representatives from all eleven zones of the district. During the meeting, Mr. Lekh Raj Parihar addressed several pressing issues faced by the teaching community and appealed to the authorities to resolve them promptly. He called on the Director School Education Jammu to issue regularization orders for ReTs (Rehbar-e-Taleem) who have completed their 5-year ReT period. These teachers have been waiting for regularization for an extended period, and Parihar emphasized the need for their regularization and the conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III to release their salaries. He also urged for the release of salaries for unregularized ReTs and RRETs who have been without pay for over two years, putting their families at risk. Parihar highlighted that despite assurances from the Director School Education Jammu to release the salaries and issue mutual transfer orders for Teachers Grade II/III in one go, these actions have not been taken, increasing the suffering of these teachers. He called on the DSEJ to expedite the resolution of these issues. Other demands discussed during the meeting included the need for a comprehensive transfer policy for teachers appointed under the ReT scheme, as some of them have been working in the same schools for over 20 years. Additionally, the conversion of Education Volunteers (EVs) to ReTs, conversion of headteacher posts into non-plan posts of masters to address salary issues, and raising the grade of teachers to match their counterparts in other Union Territories were emphasized. The meeting also called for the filling of vacant posts for Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) and Headmasters, issuance of DPC lists for teacher promotions, clearance of pay arrears for teachers and masters for over two years, and the settlement of GP fund (refundable and non-refundable) cases for teaching and non-teaching staff in the education department. The meeting also raised concerns about the release of Mid-Day Meal (MDM) dues, which teachers have been managing from their own pockets for the past year and a half. It appealed for post facto/enrollment permission for teachers whose files have been pending in the CEO office Udhampur. Several other members of the JKTJAC shared their perspectives during the meeting, and the event concluded with a call for the resolution of these pressing issues. |
