11/6/2023 10:50:20 PM

Early Times Report
REASI, Nov 6: In a relentless effort to combat the drug menace in the region, the Reasi District Police have taken strong action against a notorious drug peddler by booking and detaining him under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act. This latest crackdown on drug peddlers is part of the ongoing campaign to rid the area of drug-related issues.
The individual in question, Koshindra Rana, also known as Gouri, is the son of Charan Singh and hails from the village of Kheri Khush Nam in the Tehsil and District Shamli, State of Uttar Pradesh. He was temporarily residing at Varun Chowk in the Tehsil of Katra, District Reasi. Koshindra Rana has been involved in several cases, including FIR No. 58/23 under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and FIR No. 136/23 under the same sections, both registered at the Katra Police Station.
In response to his repeated involvement in drug peddling and to safeguard the well-being of the local community, Koshindra Rana was booked under the stringent PITNDPS Act. The detention order (Order No. 56 of 2023) was issued on 4th November 2023 by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
Under the guidance of Amit Gupta, JKPS, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Reasi, a PSA (Public Safety Act) dossier for Koshindra Rana was prepared. Following the necessary detention order from Mr. Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, a team from the Katra Police Station, led by Inspector Nishant Gupta and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Katra, Sh. Surinder Singh, JKPS, arrested Koshindra Rana. He was subsequently lodged in the District Jail in Reasi.
