Kathua Police apprehends two female drug peddlers with heroin-like narcotics and cash amounting to Rs 1,20,100 | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Nov 6: Kathua Police is unwavering in its commitment to combat the drug menace and continues its "War on Drugs" with resolute efforts to eliminate drug-related issues from society. In a significant development, the District Police Kathua has recovered and seized approximately 15 grams of heroin-like narcotics in the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajbagh at Khanpur. Two female drug peddlers have been apprehended in connection with this operation. On 5th November 2023, the Police Station Rajbagh received information regarding the involvement of two ladies, namely Balo, wife of Sadam Hussain, and Asha Bibi, wife of Mohd. Sadeeq, both residents of Khanpur, in the illegal smuggling and sale of contraband substances similar to heroin in the Khanpur area. Acting swiftly on this information, a case (FIR No. 292/2023) was registered under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) Sections 8/21/22/29. During the investigation, a police team from Police Station Rajbagh, led by Inspector Tariq Ahmed, the Station House Officer (SHO), conducted a raid in the presence of an Executive Magistrate in Marheen. Both the lady drug peddlers, Balo and Asha Bibi, were apprehended, and approximately 15 grams of a narcotic substance resembling heroin, along with cash totaling Rs 1,20,100, was seized from their possession in Khanpur. Balo was found in possession of 6.66 grams of the heroin-like substance and Rs 30,000 in cash, while Asha Bibi was found with 8.40 grams of the heroin-like substance and Rs 90,100 in cash. The arrest and seizure were carried out by a police team, with the active participation of PSI Rohit Manhas, and they acted under the supervision of DySP Dheeraj Katoch, SDPO Border, with overall oversight from Shri Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, SSP Kathua. The investigation into this matter is ongoing as part of the relentless #warondrugs campaign to make the region drug-free and protect the community from the harmful effects of narcotics. |
