ECO Club of GDC Vijaypur celebrates Swachh Diwali

VIJAYPUR, Nov 9: EcoClub (Green Warriors) of Government Degree College Vijaypur in collaboration of Innovation cell, NSS and IQAC organized awareness program on Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali to mark the celebrations of Clean and Eco-Friendly Diwali. The event was organized by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convener Ecoclub and HOD Environmental Sciences) under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, principal of the college.
Programme started with the welcome address by Prof. Poonam Kundan where she briefed the students regarding "Swachhata" campaign on the theme "Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali and further explained the importance of a clean and eco-friendly celebration. By doing so, it seeks to foster a sustainable and environmentally conscious approach to the festival.
Students of the college participated in various activities viz. Rangoli making competition based on the said theme where participants use decomposable materials particularly flowers, leaves etc. to prepare their rangoli. In the competition, First position was achieved by Group C (Incharge- Rohit of BA Sem 5), Second position was attained by Group B (Incharge -Kavya Charak of B.Com Sem 5) and third position was attained by Group A (Incharge- Rakhi Khokhar of BA Sem 5).
Students of Semester 5 th also participated in exhibition cum sale of various items prepared by them using waste material and also prepared beautiful paintings, Diyas etc. and make this exhibition a grand success.
Principal of the College, Dr. Vandana Gupta congratulated all the participants and organizing members for organizing such events in the college campus. She encouraged the students to opt for locally made products, embrace a Diwali free from single- use plastic and prioritize Diwali cleanliness. She further said that the aim of such programmes is to develop a sense of responsibility towards the environment and communities by sensitizing and motivating individuals
